ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

The Museum at the Bighorns believes that experiencing our Museum’s exhibits and programs should be accessible for all, including people with mental and/or physical disabilities, older adults, military/veterans, people living in institutions and those who lack access to a museum due to geographic isolation, cultural differences and economic hardship.  


The Museum at Bighorns wants to make sure everyone has a fantastic visit. Please reach out to us with any additional questions at (307) 675-1150 and we will do our best to accommodate. 

BUILDING ACCESSIBILITY

  •  The museum building is wheelchair and stroller accessible. 
  • The museum has one wheelchair available for visitors to use in the exhibit space. 
  • The sidewalks on Main Street leading to the building feature ramps. 
  • The museum doors are manually operated, and the  museum front desk staff will assist with entering the museum. Please call (307) 675-1150 

eLEVATORS

There are no public elevators in the building but the Museum is all on the first floor and is accessible through the front entrance. 

SERVICE ANIMALS

 Properly trained Service Dogs are welcome in the museum.  

MUSEUM TOILETS

 Two sets of toilets are located on the first floor in the museum lobby, just past the front desk. Both bathrooms include accessible stalls and baby changing facilities for museum guests.    

PARKING

 Free parking is located along the north side of the museum building in Grinnell Plaza, a short walk from the main entrance. Handicap accessible parking spaces and ramps are available in Grinnell Plaza. Additional free parking is on Main Street and in the Sheridan Public Parking Lot adjacent to Grinnell Plaza and City Hall.   

SEATING

 Seating is available in the museum’s lobby and there are benches available throughout the exhibit space. For attending community programs, please contact the museum with any inquiries for integrated, dispersed wheelchair spaces with adjacent companion seats at (307) 675-1150 and we will do our best to accommodate.
