The Museum at the Bighorns is located in Sheridan, Wyoming, at the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains, halfway between Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park.
You'll find us at 171 North Main Street in Sheridan's historic downtown - right off of Grinnell Plaza
The Voices and Votes: Democracy in American exhibition examines the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of a government “of, by and for the people,” and how each generation since continues to question how to form “a more perfect union.”
This exhibit has been made possible in Sheridan, Wyoming at the Museum at the Bighorns by the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne and the exhibition is part of Museum on Main Street, a unique collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).

The Transition of the Landscape exhibit presents a selection of Jessamine Spear Johnson photographs from the 1926 events of the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of the Little Big Horn. This exhibit explores significant anniversary events of our nation and region, while offering the opportunity to share Jessamine’s view as a resident of the Bighorn Mountain region. The anniversary events included speeches, parades, and Crow Rodeo. 2026 commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the battle.
