GROUP Tours

We look forward to welcoming your group to the Museum at the Bighorns. You can reserve a guided tour with museum staff or lead your own tour. Advance reservations are required for all adult and student groups of 10 or more, and for any third-party guided tours, regardless of size.

Group Admission Fees

Group Admission Fees

  • Membership benefits and other passes are not valid for group admission. 


  • Group leaders are responsible for the entire amount due; group members may not pay individually. 


  • Group fees are waived for K-12 public, private, and home schools located in Sheridan County, but they still do need to make reservations. 


  • Organizations with limited resources may qualify for significantly reduced rates or fee waivers. Please ask for details when making a reservation.

About Guided Tours

Engaging, hour-long tours are led by trained museum guides and offer extraordinary opportunities for your group to make the most of their encounters with local culture and history. 


  • Group visits must be reserved at least three weeks in advance. 


  • Guided visits are limited to 30 people. Larger groups will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 


  • Larger groups may be divided into smaller groups as needed to ensure a positive and engaging experience for all of our visitors.


  • All tours are subject to guide availability.

  • Group admission fees plus a flat fee of $100 for a one hour tour


  • Sheridan County public, private, and home schools may reserve one free guided tour or program per semester. 

Self-Guided Tours and Lectures

  • Groups are welcome to use our space with their own tour guide or lecturer. 


  • Self-guided groups still must make a reservation at least three weeks in advance and pay group admission fees. 


  • Self-guided tours are limited to 20 people. Larger groups will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 


  • Groups may be required to split into smaller groups depending on logistics and space availability.

  • Please take and share as many photographs for your personal use as you'd like. If photography is not allowed for certain objects or exhibits, that will be indicated on exhibit signage.  


  • Commercial photography is not allowed unless unless approved by the Museum.  


  • Visitors to the Museum may be photographed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded. By visiting, visitors grant the Museum permission to use photographs and/or audiovisual recordings in which visitors appear for archival, documentary, publicity, advertising, or other purposes.

Dos, Don'ts, and General Suggestions

  • We have plenty of parking and turn around space for large buses. 
  • Please limit the number of coats and bags you bring in with you. We do not have a coat-check area.
  • Weather permitting, lunch can be eaten outside on our big front porch. We do not have space inside the museum to accommodate lunch. 
  • We do not have dining options at the Museum, but do sell water and snacks in the museum store.
  • You may carry a closed bottle of water with you in the exhibits. No other food or drinks are allowed in the exhibits.
  • Unless they are registered for a drop-off program, children twelve and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 
  • Some objects in the exhibits are fragile while others are hands-on and available to explore with all of your senses. If you're not sure if it's ok to touch something, please ask a staff person for help. 
  • Only use pencils for sketching or note taking while in the exhibits. 
  • Please be respectful of other visitors--we want everyone to be able to enjoy their visit to the Museum.
